INTRODUCTION

Hi, my names Bonnie Trezise. I am 14 years old and in year 9. This blog page is about the book, Tomorrow When the War Began, by John Marsden, And my thoughts and ideas on strength and resilience.  Strength is the quality or state of being physically strong and resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness. To me, both these are very important things to have, they both do you very well, and they are shown greatly in Marsden’s book. The book tells the story about Ellie and her friends going camping in the Australian bush, one night they hear loud noises and see jets flying overhead… On their return they come home to find their family's gone, and they're pets dead. They've only got themselves and they need to figure out what's going on, where they’re families are and how they can stop all of this. Four characters in the book who I think showed great aspects of strength and resilience and contributed to the overall survival in Hell and during ...

#1 ELLIE  Ellie is the main contributor, she's knows how to do every outdoor activity they need to do, she agrees to go on all missions and keeps everyone safe and sound throughout the book as much she can. Ellie is the narrator of the book, she is chosen at the start of the book to write about their camping adventure. She tells her stories well, including everyone's emotions, all the events and every detail of what's going on around them. She showed many aspects of strength and resilience throughout the book, for example she blows up a ride on lawnmower to get away from the soldiers. She also along with Homer went back into town, still flooded with dangerous, nasty soldiers to look for Robyn and Lee. She also killed to keep her and her friends safe. Ellie also stole a  bull dozer to rescue Lee  and along with Fi stole a petrol tanker to continue their mission of blowing up the bridge. She shows strength by pushing through everything and always being on top of everyt...

#3 Fi Fions showed great contribution to the groups survival, being the girl that hadn't been seen by the sun, soon seemed to be the girl covered in mud.Fi is the daughter of two lawyers, she seems like type of girl who was pampered as a child by her parents, the children that look like they haven't  done any type of work in their life nor have they been in the sun. She's the character in the book who we think would fail at serving the way they did but by the end of the novel she had showed great courage during the attack on the bridge even after Ellie initially had doubts about being teamed with her. Fi didn't only do a great job with the explosion but she also saved Ellie’s life by calling out to her and making her aware of all situations, especially whilst in the tanker, although not all of her yelling out worked. #4 Corrie Corrie contributed a lot to the groups survival also, not only for the missions and things she done for them all but how strong she acted ...

SURVIVAL TECHNIQUE

Building a Shelter Not surprisingly, hypothermia is the main #1 outdoor camping killer, especially in the cold weather, which states that a preferably well insulated shelter should be very important in a survival situation. To make a simple outdoor shelter find a downed tree resting at an angle, or set a large branch firmly against a tree, and work together to put littler branches around the outer of the branch or downed tree, but only on one side. Then layer leaves and moss across the angles wall and about six to eight inches on the floor to insulate yourself from, the cold ground. To look at step by step pictures please look at the post with the heading ' BUILDING A SHELTER'.

WHICH CHARACTER DO I BELIEVE IS MOST LIKLEY TO SURVIVE IN THE WAR AND WHY?

ELLIE LINTON Survival takes a lot, especially in war. One person who i think would be able to survive the war is Ellie Linton, from John Marsden’s book, ‘Tomorrow When the War Began’. My reasons for this being, she's very brave & strong, courageous and a good leader. I think Ellie is most likely to survive because she's brave, strong and believes in herself and the group. Bravery is a very important to thing to have when all you have to rely on is yourself. Ellie earns her bravery a lot throughout Marsden’s book, she does many things you can't imagine people doing. For instant, she blew up a ride on mower to save her and her 2 friends after being chased by a soldier just past the show ground, she also stole a bulldozer to save her friend, who had just been shot in the leg by a soldier. Marsden quotes in the book Ellie saying ‘I’m not gonna hold back. I warned the others that I wouldn’t. Recording like this is so important to us. I guess it’s our way of tellin...
